Three bits of FTTx news, plus two international projects:

IQ Fiber is making a move on the state of Delaware. The Jacksonville, Florida-based provider has officially launched in Kent County, wich is the middle one of Delaware’s three. IQ Fiber anticipates a total investment of $150M in the state, with the initial deployment taking the next 18-24 months. They will bring XGS-PON 10Gbps connections and WiFi 7 services to bear. IQ Fiber also serves markets in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Maryland.

Brightspeed’s updates on its fiber deployments in the southeast have reached Georgia. The company says its fiber network in Georgia has reached 65% completion. They have now passed 20K residents in Liberty and Bryan counties, with the latest being in Hinesville and Richmond Hill. Brightspeed won $2.2M in BEAD funding to help with their buildout there.

CityFibre has officially launched a wholesale 8.5Gb product over in the UK. The expansion follows their rollout of 10Gbps XGS-PON technology nationally in the UK, reaching 4.7M premises now and 8M on the way. The new 8.5Gb product will be available to ISP partners in 3 weeks.

Colt Technology Services is investing in its transpacific connectivity. Colt has announced plans to add international routes connecting the US West Coast and Asia on the Juno subsea cable system, which went live in May of last year. The expansion will give them backbone connectivity between Tokyo and Los Angeles, giving the once-European-specialists a fully global presence.

And Ciena has won a significant upgrade project in India with Vodafone Idea. Vi will be deploying Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme coherent technology to upgrade its national backbone. The project follows a successful trial of 1.6Tbps on the company’s meshed DCI infrastructure. That will enable efficient support of up to 800G services.
