Four items from around the world to catch up with:
RETN has been busy in the Baltics. They have launched a new backbone route between Estonia and Latvia, connecting the cities of Tallin and Cesis and adding resilience to their infrastructure in the region. They were just in time too, as when a fiber failure elsewhere occurred during pre-service testing, engineers were able to shift 40 DWDM channels to the newly built line.
Colt recently announced the addition of some network infrastructure to better serve AI and the US market. They have added new capacity on the Marea subsea cable between Spain and Virginia Beach. Meanwhile Colt has also added network route to Ashburn from both NYC and Virginia Beach. The upgrades boost Colt’s options for data-heavy workloads .
GNX has extended its reach in the Middle East. The Dutch-based network operator has added a point of presence on e&’s Smarthub Fujairah campus in the UAE. That gives them reach into the Carrier & Wholesale ecosystem of e&. That will enable them not only to better serve customers with needs in the region, but also to more easily access other subsea cable infrastructure heading east to India.
And this morning Boldyn announced another venue connectivity upgrade project. They will deploy a new, permanent high-capacity 5G mobile network at Silverstone, which is where the Formula 1 British Grand Prix takes place. The upgrade includes a hybrid active DAS system, with tech rolled out across 25 locations powering high-capacity sectors across 87 DAS zones.
