Three bits of international news from the European theatre:

Sparkle’s Genoa landing platform will have a new subsea cable tenant soon. Valencia Digital Port Connect and Sparkle have announced a strategic agreement to land the Barracuda cable there. Barracuda will connect Valencia, Spain with Genoa, Italy, offering 12 fiber pairs on a span of 1,070km. If all goes well it will be ready in 2028 and will cost about €100M.

NetIX has picked up a new interconnection partner in southeastern Europe. Vodafone Carrier Services will be using NetIX as the partner to reach Vodafone’s network in Greece. NetIX’s interconnection footprint reaches some 220 data centers in 65 countries and is based out of The Bulgarian capital of Sofia.

And euNetworks continued to overhaul its leadership team this week with the hiring of a new CFO. Giancarlo Ferro will take over the company’s financial strategy starting on March 23, taking over from Katherine Alexakis and joining CEO Marisa Trisolino who took the helm last April. euNetworks has been investing resources in overbuilds on the FLAP-D routes in recent years in support of the AI boom.
