A few last news items for the week:

There is now another IX option available over in the Middle East. With the help of DE-CIX, Ooredoo has launched Doha IX which is billed as the first commercial IX in Qatar. It is hosted within Ooredoo’s data center and offers a neutral environment as well as direct access into DE-CIX’s global ecosystem.

Centersquare has made an inorganic move, acquiring 10 data centers across the USA and Canada. The deal expands the colo provider’s portfolio to 80 facilities and adds to its HPC capacity. It includes two facilities they had already been operating under long term leases in Boston and Minneapolis, as well as additional facilities in Dallas, Tulsa, Nashville, Raleigh, Toronto, and Montreal. Centersquare values the transactions at $1B, and will fund them through cash on hand.

And SEACOM is teaming up with SENTECH over in South Africa. The two have signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining a 12-month collaboration targeting small, medium, and micro enterprises in South Africa’s telecommunications sector. SEACOM offers connectivity along Africa’s eastern coast, and is looking to help build regional markets from the ground up.
