Tuesday Roundup: Djibouti Telecom, VOX Solutions, Applied Digital, CoreWeave, DE-CIX

Four bits of infrastructure news from four continents around the industry:

Djibouti Telecom has announced plans to extend the DARE1 cable system all the way down to South Africa. The cable, which currently connects Djibouti to Somalia and Kenya, will get a new leg from Mombasa, Kenya to ports in Tanzania, Mozambique, and Madagascar until terminating at Mtunzini. That’s 3,200-3,500km of new subsea cable, and work is expected to begin in 2026 with an RFS date in 2028.

VOX Solutions has picked up a strategic partner in South America. The mobile operator VIVA Bolivia will be connecting to the VOX-360 platform to handle all international A2P SMS and voice traffic under an exclusive agreement. The move enables advanced anti-fraud capabilities including flash call authentication as well as monetization tools.

Applied Digital and CoreWeave have finalized another lease agreement up in North Dakota. CoreWeave will be taking up another 150MW at Applied Digital’s Polaris Forge 1 Campus in Ellendale. The deal adds some $4B to the two leases previously announced in May for a total of $11B over 15 years and some 400MW of power. CoreWeave’s first such data center should be ready in Q4 of this year, while the infrastructure covered on this newest lease would be ready for service in 2027.

And DE-CIX India has brought something new into its interconnection system: a bit of satellite. Starlink has announced it is joining the company’s interconnection ecosystem, or at least it will once it gets final clearance for its commercial license from India’s regulators. Starlink will leverage DE-CIX’s connectivity to access terrestrial infrastructure for the broadband it brings to hard to reach parts of the region.
