Tuesday Roundup: Quantica, Nokia, Aligned, Greenlight

Two items from the data center infrastructure space, a subsea vendor win, and more FTTx:

The data center infrastructure place has a new player. Quantica Infrastructure launched yesterday to focus on delivering shovel ready sites for hyperscale facilities. That means they prepare the land, power, and connectivity for those who want to hit the ground running with data center construction. Quantica is backed by the Energy Transition arm of EnCap Infrastructure LP.

Nokia has been chosen to power the new Medusa subsea cable system. The Medusa project is owned by AFR-IX Telecom, and will connect the northern African countries of Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Algeria, and Egypt to multiple familiar destinations in southern Europe. Nokia’s 1830 GX and ICE7 coherent optics will enable the reach, performance, and capacity on the open access system.

Aligned has been busy collaborating with Divcon Controls as it develops its Advanced Cooling Lab in Phoenix AZ. DivCon Controls serves as the controls vendor for the facility, which looks to help solve the cooling challenges raised by AI infrastructure. Meanwhile, Aligned also announced an expansion into central Ohio. They will be developing a 197-acre parcel in the Conesville Industrial Park in Coshocton County – northeast of Columbus and south of Cleveland. It will be their third in the state, with initial capacity coming online next summer sometime.

And Greenlight Networks recently offered up an update on its buildouts in Orange County, New York. The FTTx provider recently added $4M to its buildout to take on Port Jervis, and expects to spend another $24M in the county over the next 12 months connecting another 16,200 homes. Greenlight has construction underway in Goshen, Middletown, and Wallkill.
