As we move past the long weekend and into the heat of summer, here’s a few items to catch up on:
Boldyn Networks is looking to expand its influence over in Europe. The network infrastructure company has integrated Smart Mobile Labs under its umbrella and strengthened leadership team led by European CEO Andrew McGrath. Boldyn acquired SML in January of this year.
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has tapped Nokia’s AI capabilities to help manage its energy usage. IOH has deployed Nokia Energy Efficiency across the its Indonesian radio access network. The idea is to reduce energy costs and carbon footprint by shutting down idle equipment during periods of low demand. The deal follows a successful pilot project.
Colt has expanded a strategic partnership with Kevlinx Data Centers. The two will be investing further in Kevlinx’s BRU01 facility in Brussels, a 32MW+, AI-optimized data center on a 24,000 square meter site. Colt provides connectivity to the campus, which sits in the midst of the FLAPD region.
And what is Google doing in the energy space? Last week the company invested in Commonwealth Fusion, a move that follows other investments in renewable energy projects this year. One might think back to when Google started investing in subsea cables or into FTTH, both of which came when they saw a long term need for something that others weren’t moving to build out. It doesn’t mean they will take over the space, but it could definitely offer an indication of where others will soon turn even more attention. It’s a truism that fusion is always 10 years away, but maybe it really is?
