Four bits of expansion news from Europe and the Americas to catch up with:

Orange Business is taking aim at the defense and homeland security space. They have created a new division to target defense and security opportunities in France and the rest of the European continent. The new DD&S unit will draw on expertise from other entities to leverage the latest in AI, cybersecurity, and quantum technologies.

GNM has rolled out new DWDM infrastructure across a swath of eastern Europe. In the space of 3 days the company says it installed and commissioned some 3,000km of DWDM network through Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia, strengthening their global infrastructure. The move supports the company’s expansion from its European base toward additional opportunities in the Middle East.

Telxius and Ciena have been busy testing the next generation of subsea technology. Last week they achieved the industry’s first 1.3Tbps transatlantic transmission across a single wavelength and a spectral efficiency of 7.0bits/s/Hz. The trial leveraged Telxius’ Marea cable between Bilbao, Spain and Virginia Beach, Virginia and Ciena’s WL6e technology.

And Liberty Networks has expanded its network footprint in Latin America. They have added new PoPs in the Mexican markets of Campeche and Chetumal on the Yucatan Peninsula as well as in the Peruvian capital of Lima. Liberty is preparing to the MANTA subsea cable alongside Gold Data and Sparkle.
