Mitel to Acquire Toshiba’s UC Business

May 12th, 2017 by · 1 Comment

Mitel has announced some additional inorganic growth in the VoIP space.  The Canadian-based communications company has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Japanese giant Toshiba.  Toshiba decided to leave the UC space earlier this year.

The deal will see certain assets and obligations, including existing inventory, transferred to Mitel.  A transition services agreement is expected that will keep the process smooth for existing customers.

Mitel believes the deal will be immediately accretive and will expand their customer base worldwide.  Beyond that, the actual terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mitel has been quite busy in the M&A markets over the last few years, acquiring Aastra and Mavenir, selling Mavenir, and making unsuccessful moves on both Shoretel and Polycom.
