There was a bit of network consolidation today down on the US-Mexico border. Transtelco has announced the acquisition of Dallas-based XC networks.
Like Transtelco itself, XC networks has focused on the cross-border networking market, owning a mix of fiber, data center, and spectrum assets. They have a significant presence in Dallas, which derives from the acquisition of Corban Communications back in 2006. But they also own a bunch of spectrum south of the border and boast clients of both the wholesale and enterprise variety. Beyond that I know little about the company yet... anyone?
However, the overlapping geography and complementary customer base will certainly help boost Transtelco's efforts in the region. In recent years, Transtelco has added longhaul routes in Texas and metro fiber down in major Mexican markets.
