TGIF, here's a quick look at four contract other wins spanning disparate segments and technologies from this week:
Out in Southern California, Wilcon this week revealed a deployment serving the education vertical. They've hooked up Soka University in Aliso Viejo in Orange County, and are bringing robust internet access and diverse infrastructure to the campus. Wilcon has lately been adding depth to its network through buildouts aimed at the wireless and small cell side of things, and that extra infrastructure has been bringing it closer to more such opportunities in other verticals as well.
Parcus Group has picked up a client in southeast Asia. Malaysia's Global Transit Communications has tapped them for training and consulting services. The specifics weren't revealed, but the consulting services were around in the area of product development and management. Since they aren't mentioning what the product being developed and managed is, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's SDN-related.
GENBAND has won a deal with Crown Point Telephone Company on the western shore of Lake Champlain in upstate New York. They are providing their C15 Call Controller and other technology as part of a transformation of the RLEC's legacy voice and data network. The switchover from older switching gear to IP technology enabled them to move 700 lines in 5 minutes, consolidate a room of equipment down to a few racks, and cut power by 50%.
And finally, Broadsoft yesterday revealed an interesting contract with none other than the American Red Cross. The Red Cross will be using their CC-One call center technology, moving their infrastructure to a software-as-a-service footing. Given the need to shift resources around and scale up rapidly to manage disaster reponse and such, moving to an on-demand communications solution seems like a no-brainer for an organization like the Red Cross.
