Two bits of inorganic activity, and some fiber in the deep south:
Mission Critical Group has announced the acquisition of TxLa Systems, which manufactures electrical switchgear and modular power systems. The two have been partnered up since 2023 for such technology, and this deal brings that expertise in-house for MCG. 400 employees and several facilities in Texas will make the transition to MCG, adding technical expertise and production capacity.
There was another deal among the technology systems that support data centers out there. Littlejohn Capital has announced the sale of Maysteel Industries to Steele Solutions, which is owned by Revelar Capital. Wisconsin-based Maysteel provides mission critical metal enclosures and precision fabrications for data centers, infrastructure, and energy applications. For its part, Steele Solutions focuses on similar types of things but for a broader ecosysem of highly engineered work platform solutions.
And C Spire has completed a project down in Mississippi. They have finished allocation of their portion of the Mississippi Capital Projects Fund, which means they have brought fiber to 14K residences and 18.5K undeveloped lots. The work was in the underserved counties of Amite, Lincoln, Lamar, Madison, Desoto, and Hinds. It was part of a $164M project administered by the Office of Broadband Expansion and Accessibility of Mississippi. More broadly, C Spire says it has invested $60M into some 1,000 miles of new fiber passing 37.5K homes in the state.
