Five items from around the industry:

EdgeConneX has a new strategic partner in the Chilean agriculture space. They are teaming up with Kilimo in the Maipo River Basin, south of the capital Santiago. EdgeConneX’s infrastructure will support science-based irrigation optimization by leveraging AI-based monitoring. The Maipo River Basin produces much of Chile’s wine.

Vodafone Germany has tapped Aurora Networks and HUBER+SUHNER to upgrade its cable network in Germany. The project will leverage Aurora’s expertise in Distributed Access Architecture and virtual CTMS technologies, which will make the most of Vodafone Germany’s HFC infrastructure. HUBER-SUHNER will provide nextgen Remote PHY devices sith full software interoperability.

Equinix is looking to help develop the next generation of technical talent that the industry will be needing all too soon. They have launched a Pathways to Tech program targeting high school age students, following up on a successful pilot project. The have also introduced a technician training coalition, apprenticeships, and a Learning Labs effort aimed at reskilling existing personnel.

Cambridge Management Consulting has made an inorganic move. They have acquired The Carrier Club, which specializes in telecommunications cost reductions, which Cambridge MC will be integrating into its portfolio. They will also be looking to add more AI-based tools and capabilities.

And Sparkle has some big plans on the AI front. They have signed a reseller agreement with Anthropic to offer Claud models through AWS Bedrock. They will offer Claude to institutions and enterprises across Europe, backed by Sparkle’s own cloud and connectivity capabilities. The object is to offer end-to-end services to their existing customer base, and you certainly need to have AI in the portfolio now to do that.
