Some AI, some metro and last mile fiber, and more data center infrastructure:
In what will probably be a trend we see a lot of in the months ahead, Lumen is taking AI agents for a spin. They have tapped Ciena’s Blue Planet AI Studio to ‘build, manage, and run AI agents across multiple network domains. They hope to streamline their OSS environment and rduce costs. Initial use cases are device model generation and digital network twins applications.
Light Source Communications is taking on a new market in the Midwest. They have announced plans for 240 miles of infrastructure in Indianapolis, Indiana. The buildout will have 5 rings touching 20 towns and cities and connecting key data centers around the metro area. LSC says it has several hyperscalers on board as anchor tenants already. The buildout should be ready by Q3 of next year.
NKTelco has completed a buildout of its Flight Fiber FTTH reach in Arcanum, Ohio, a rural town northwest of Dayton near the Indiana border. NKTelco has been building out in several such markets in western Ohio, serving some 3,000 homes and businesses in rural communities.
And down under, Macquarie Technology group is tapping the credit markets again as they build out AI data center infrastructure. They have added a $50M incrmental debt facility, increasing their secured revolving loan facility to $500M. The extra resources will go toward long lead-time equipment that will support expanding IC3 Super West’s capacity well beyond the initial 6MW.
