Lumen is officially not in the FTTH business anymore. They have completed the sale of that business to AT&T for $5.75B in a deal previously announced in May of 2025. Lumen will now be able to focus its efforts on its enterprise and wholesale fiber network, although it still has a consumer copper business to run for cash. Lumen is in the process of deploying 47 million intercity fiber miles by the end of 2028, having hit the 17 million mark at the close of 2025.
Boldyn Networks and the Bay Area Rapid Transit District have officially launched free Wi-Fi in advance of the Super Bowl this weekend. The capability is now online at 5 busy stations: SFO Airport, West Oakland, Embarcadero, Civic Center, and Powell Street. The goal is doing the same at all BART stations as well as with onboard connectivity on all the trains.
123NET is upgrading its voice capabililties with the help of Intermedia’s unified communications platform. The new partnership will enable 123NET to offer UCaaS as well as CCaaS, and just generally add new enterprise capabilities. 123NET offers fiber, data center, and voice services across much of Michigan.
And Lyte has offered an update on its FTTx buildout in Texas. The company went from zero to nearly 25K locations served and 3K active residential and business customers across 4 regions and 7 markets. They also now have $142M in BEAD money matched by $40M in private funds that will target 9,670 ocations, as well as $58M from the Texas BOOT II program for another 6,741.
