Wednesday Bytes: DayOne, LiquidStack, Nostrum, BT

Three bits of data center news and one inorganic move:

DayOne Data Centers says it has raised more than $2B in Series C equity financing. The financing round was led by their existing investor Coatue, with the Indonesia Investment Authority in support. The Singapore-based data center developer plans to use the new funds to accelerate its global expansion, specifically at its Lahti and Kouvola campuses in Finland and in southeast Asia.

LiquidStack announced yesterday that it has won a 300MW order for Coolant Distribution Unit capacity from a major US-based data center operator. Their CDU-1MW technology will support the customer’s expanding AI-ready infrastructure, integrating with both direct-to-chip and hybrid liquid cooling architectures.

Nostrum Data Centers is bringing in JLL to help roll out its connectivity hub in Spain. Nostrum is putting 500MW of capacity in place in Spain, with another 300MW planned for expansion. The buildout covers six facilities throughout Spain, with which JLL will help to address demand from AI and high density workloads.

And there was a bit of M&A in the federal connectivity space this week. BT has completed the sale of its BT Federal unit to 22nd Century Technologies. TSCTI will operate the unit as 22nd Century Networks, targeting US agencies and organizations that are seeking to modernize legacy environments. BT International will simplify its approach while maintaining a strong US presence, while the parent company looks more toward the UK.
