Three bits of data center news and a couple vendor items:
1547 Critical Systems Realty now has another interconnection option down on the US/Mexico border. The McAllen Internet Exchange (MCT-IX) has deployed within the Chase Tower, a carrier hotel that 1547 bought a couple years ago in partnership with Harrison Street. 1547 also says it is adding 500kW of power to the facility as well as a 3MW data center annex.
Nostrum Data Centers is planning to have 500MW of sustainable IT and data center capacity available in Spain by 2027. A few weeks ago they announced the choice of AECOM for the design and management of its campus in Badajoz. The company is working on six projects throughout the country, with 300MW of secured power capacity already in place.
Evocative says it has raised new debt financing from a large global investment firm. They plan to use it to fund expansion in key metro markets. Evocative operates 7 facilities in California, 2 in Texas, and one each in New Jersey, Washington, Georgia, Arizona, and Massachusetts. Details about how much money the company raised or what metro markets they are looking at was not disclosed.
And Ericsson has announced two interesting international projects this week. The Port of Tyne in the UK has deployed its Private 5G offering on spectrum from BT to power connectivity across a 620-acre site. The network supports connected vehicles, machinery, and video-driven processes. Meanwhile, stc Group has tapped Ericsson under a 5-year master frame agreement to deploy next generation mobile hardware and supporting services throughout Saudi Arabia.
