Two expansions and a spinoff:
Duos Edge AI has unveiled some significant expansion plans, moving beyond Texas for the first time. The edge data center provider will be taking on Chicagoland in Illinois as the first of multiple planned moves in the Midwest. Meanwhile, back in their home turf of Texas, Duos Edge AI says it is also adding adding two more modular data center deployments in the Lubbock metro area.
Applied Digital is making an inorganic move, but not an acquisition. The data center builder and designer is spinning off its cloud computing business. The division will be combined with publicly created EKSO Bionics Holdings to create a new entity called ChronoScale. ChronoScale will focus on an accelerated compute platform for AI workloads, while the legacy EKSO business will likely be sold off.
And there was a bit of interesting data center expansion news from down under during the break. AirTrunk will be building a second data center campus in Melbourne. They have acquired a new site for what will become MEL2, adding some 354MW of capacity to the company’s overall deployed footprint. AirTrunk’s total investment in the province of Victoria will move past the AU$7B mark.
