Five items from around the industry to catch up with:
Zayo has launched its next-generation Network-as-a-Service platform, enabling customers real-time control of their network infrastructure via an AI-driven interface. NaaS has been a thing for some time now, but as is always true of new things it has too often been rather less smooth than the hype — something Zayo hopes to change. DynamicLink reaches across their entire network footprint to 28,000+ on-net locations and 1200+ data centers.
MetTel is teaming up with the systems integrator TekSynap for some federal contract magic. The two companies have signed a strategic partnership that will focus on the US defense and intelligence sectors, offering capabilities including SD-WAN, POTS transformations, and WiFi.
Boldyn Networks has been awarded a strategic project in the shipping industry. They will be designing, deploying, and operating a private 5G network for OPCSA. The project will connect not just workers, but cranes and other equipment at the largest container terminal in the Canary Islands. Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud will be part of the solution.
Sparkle is taking another step toward networking beyond Earth. They are expanding their collaboration with Telespazio at the Fucino Space Centre with a new Point of Presence. That’s in L’Aquilla in the Abruzzo region of central Italy, and has been operational since 1963.
Comcast is leveraging Ciena’s gear to extend 100Gbps to more customers. They are deploying Ciena’s 5131 Coherent Access Platform, enabling them to extend their 100G reach into rural and underserved areas. Comcast will be able to use that reach to support BEAD and other initiatives, reaching community anchor institutions, enterprises, SMBs, and residential customers.
