Three bits of last mile news, one round of funding, and a new CFO:

Brightspeed has won a new pile of BEAD funding across the Midwest, adding $181M in awards to reach a total of $528M so far. The biggest new chunk is in Missouri, where they will connect some 61K locations. After that are 9.2K in Indiana, 8.7K in Michigan, 5.4K in Ohio, 4.4K in Alabama, and 1.2K in Illinois. There is also a new small award over in South Carolina to reach 118 locations.

Boldyn Networks has been busy rolling out small cells in London. The company says it has deployed over 200 such nodes, helping densify infrastructure for 5G in King’s Cross, Waterloo, London Bridge, Old Street, The Shard and Hyde Park Corner. They are connecting those small cells with fiber pulled through Transport for London ducts.

Lyte Fiber is planning to build out a last mile network in Carrizo Springs, Texas. With a $3M investment they will start out connecting 2,000 locations with 35 miles of fiber. Carrizo Springs is off the beaten path, a couple hours southwest of San Antonio and about an hour northwest of Laredo.

Uniti Group is leveraging its fiber assets in raising some funding. They have commenced an offering for $250M of secured fiber network revenue term notes due 2031. It will be secured by certain fiber assets in the southeastern states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina. They also expect to enter a commitment for another $75M variable note funding facility.
