Four items of regional interest to catch up with:
Comcast Business put its infrastructure to use on the SMB front yesterday. They helped the cheesesteak shop Philly Originals modernize operations and expand to a new location in Ambridge in Beaver County PA. That’s out west of Pittsburgh, about as far as you can get from Philly itself and still be in the same state.
Lyte Fiber is expanding into yet another Texas market. They are investing $2M to build out a residential fiber network in the city of Jefferson in east Texas. They’ll start out with 23 miles of fiber connecting 1,550 homes and businesses with up to 10Gbps. Yesterday Lyte announced a similar expansion in Carrizo Springs, which may also be in Texas but is still a 500 mile drive.
Boldyn Networks and AT&T have expanded cellular connectivity under the streets of New York. The upgrades make it so people don’t lose connectivity taking the subway through the Joralemon Street tunnel, which connects Manhattan and Brooklyn along the 4 and 5 lines. Next on tap is the crosstown G line.
And CleanArc Data Centers is planning a major expansion of its VA1 campus in Virginia’s Caroline County. They have acquired another 87.5 acres of land, enabling them to expand on their initial plans of a 600MW campus with another 300MW of critical power capacity. They expect to break ground on the whole project later this quarter, with the first 300MW expected to be ready in Q1 of 2027.
