Five items of metro and regional interest to catch up with:

HydraVault has announced a new AI-focused data center in Chicago. Construction will begin this Fall on a new Tier 3 facility downtown with latency to 360 East Cermak below a millisecond. The plans call for a total power capacity of 20MW with support of up to 200kW per rack and integrating advanced liquid cooling systems. The location is at 2538 South Wabash Avenue.

The managed service provider Thrive has made an inorganic move, acquiring VitalCORE. The deal gives Thrive three locations in the Midwestern USA. VitalCORE focuses on technology valuations, managed security, transactional advisory, and comprehensive managed technology services.

Ripple Fiber and HyperFiber have completed their merger following an agreement announced in May. The deal brings HyperFiber customers in Arkansas, Colorado, and Florida under the Ripple Fiber banner. HyperFiber had two additional state launches in progress as well, which will come online by the end of the year. Ripple plans to reach 1.5M new passings across 15 states over the next 5 years.

Nokia says that the City of Superior has selected the vendor’s technology and services to power a new fiber network. Superior lies on the shore of Lake Superior in northwestern Wisconsin, across the St. Louis River from Duluth MN. The project, called Connect Superior, will result in a city-owned and operated open-access fiber network connecting 26K underserved residents.

And Comcast Business has picked up a bit of retail business in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. They will be supporting Essence Center for Beauty and Wellness with a 1G connection, upgrading from legacy technology. The salon will use the bandwidth to transition the rest of its business to a digital-first platform.
