Metro Bytes: Great Plains, LSC, Brightspeed, Duos

Several interesting regional fiber and edge items of interest in recent days:

Great Plains Communications is expanding eastward into Kentucky. The Midwestern independent digital infrastructure provider is adding 165 miles of new fiber reaching deep into the Bluegrass State. The fiber will connect the cities of Louisville, Lexington, Frankfort, Jeffersontown, Simpsonville, Shelbyville, Bridgeport, Georgetown and Versailles. From there GPC will offer its full portfolio of communications and data services to Kentucky enterprises.

Light Source Communications is expanding its depth in Phoenix, Arizona. They are adding another 35+ route miles in the Goodyear area, in the western part of the Phoenix metro area. LSC is looking to meet demand from hyperscaler customers in response to the AI boom and HPC phenomenon generally. LSC’s footprint in the area will pass 335 route miles and 15 rings.

Brightspeed has been busy in western and central Ohio. They have completed fiber network builds in the counties of Crawford, Defiance, Erie, Holmes, Morgan and Putnam. The upgrades to its infrastructure add another 37K homes and businesses passed to their last mile reach, bringing their total to 231K out of a 429K target.

And Duos Technologies looks like it will be moving deeper into the internet infrastructure space. They have named Doug Recker as a Corporate Officer and President, elevating the leader of the company’s Duos Edge AI division. Doug will continue to focus on the design and deployment of Duos Edge Data Centers, which take advantage of the railway infrastructure technology provider’s land and other assets to address next generation ecosystems.  We had Doug on here not so long ago to talk about his plans in Texas.
