Four network projects to catch up with before Labor Day weekend here in the US:

Lightpath is building out new infrastructure in eastern Pennsylvania. They are adding 130 route miles targeting the Susquehanna region and the AI-scale data center projects that have been popping up there. They hope to connect such facilities east to NJ/NY and south to Northern Virginia. The new fiber should be ready sometime next summer.

Sparkle has added a new point of presence in the Nordic region. The new PoP is in Digita Data Center in the Finnish capital of Helsinki. It’s the company’s 89th PoP in Europe overall and follows a recent expansion into Sweden. The new PoP is powered by a 400GE-enabled router.

Lumen has picked up a significant relationship expansion in the live sports vertical. Pac-12 Enterprises will be leveraging more of Lumen’s nextgen broadcasting and NaaS technology to bring Pac-12 football games to fans, starting with Washington State vs Idaho this weekend. Pac-12 is looking beyond traditional broadcasting technology to leverage AI and other capabilities.

And Consolidated Communications is adding some new fiber in Houston, Texas. More specifically, Consolidated has announced a strategic fiber deployment at Fibertown Data Center’s facility to the north of downtown at 12031 North Freeway. The unique route will offer both modern bandwidth and route diversity in support of Fibertown’s customers from small businesses to federal agencies.
