Four buildout projects to catch up with as we close out August:
EdgeConneX says it will be building out 30+MW of high density infrastructure for Lambda. The expansion includes a single tenant, 23MW facility in Chicago and two air cooled sites in Chicago and Atlanta. Lambda operates a Superintelligence Cloud, targeting the AI community from hyperscalers to enterprises.
Boldyn Networks and Virgin Media O2 have teamed up to power communications at Sunderland’s Stadium Of Light over in the UK. Boldyn’s CaaS technology and managed services are powering a 5G neutral host network, which O2 will be the first to take advantage of. The facility is the home base of Sunderland AFC, which is returning to the Premier League, and will be hosting the opening match of the Women’s Rugby World Cup.
DartPoints has announced some expansion plans following a capital infusion from NOVA Infrastructure. They will be adding high capacity data center infrastructure on their campuses in Greenville and Columbia in South Carolina, in Columbus IN and in Cincinnati OH. The AI-ready infrastructure will help them target enterprises outside of the Tier 1 markets.
And Lumen says it is making the investment in 400Gbps Ethernet and IP across some 70 third party data centers. The technology upgrade covers facilities in 16 tier 1 markets around the US, and will help them prepare for the next wave of AI and cloud demand. Lumen says it is targeting 47 million intercity fiber miles by the end of 2028.
