Three new data center infrastructure projects, and one M&A on the engineering side of things:
Switch Datacenters will be adding to its European footprint with a new project in Poland. They have secured land and permits for a data center in Warsaw. WAW1 will be located in the Warsaw’s Mory area and will target some 90MW of power capacity in its first phase. The design will target high-density AI loads but will also handle more traditional use cases. The facility should be ready for service in early 2027.
The global infrastructure services provider Circet has made an inorganic move into the USA. They have acquired Gemini Communications and its subsidiaries Blue Streak and CCU. The deal gives Circet local expertise in OSP construction, maintenance, repair, and event-related restoration services for communications providers. The Europe-based Circet has also been expanding into the energy sector to complement its core telecoms capabilities.
CoreWeave is reportedly making a substantial investment in New Jersey. The AI Hyperscaler has purchased a data center at the Northeast Science and Technology Center (NEST) for $322M. The 280,000-square-foot facility sits on the former HQ of the pharmaceutical gian Merck in Kenilworth NJ. Onyx Equities and Machine Investment Group still own the rest of the campus, which has some 2 million square feet of space to lease. CoreWeave just recently announced a deal to acquire Core Scientific and has said it will invest as much as $6B in Pennsylvania.
And Quantica Infrastructure is making its first big move out in Montana. Big Sky Digital Infrastructure, owned by Quantica, has announced plans for a 5,000-acre energy and digital infrastructure campus outside of Billings. They are planning for some 500MW of renewable power, expandable to 1GW, along with strategic fiber links through new underground conduit.
