Four bits of network news, three from the US and one from northeastern Europe.
eX2 Technology has lined up the first fiber IRU for some publicly built dark fiber in Arizona. Wecom Fiber will use 141 route miles of dark fiber along I-17 to connect its FTTx projects in northern Arizona back to Phoenix. The fiber was built by the Arizona Department of Transportation and the Arizona Commerce Authority, and eX2 was brought in to help commercialize it. They also have conduit and fiber on I-19 from Tucson to Nogales and are working on I-40 from Flagstaff west to the California border.
FiberLight has tapped Fujitsu subsidiary 1Finity to upgrade its bandwidth capacity. They are deploying the T900 Series Transponder to bring 800G to hyperscale data center customers. FiberLight’s footprint in Texas is seeing substantial growth in the data center sector due to AI workloads, and the company is looking to be able to hook that up efficiently.
Blue Streak Telecommunications is teaming up with Render Networks to modernize its operations. The southeastern engineering and construction firm is looking to better manage complex fiber builds as the infrastructure world evolves. They’ll leverage Render Networks’ data driven, AI-enhanced software platform.
And over in Europe, RETN has upgraded its regional infrastructure in Lithuania. Partnering with Skaidula, they have deployed 100G transponders on a fiber ring connecting Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Šiauliai and Panevežys. They have some 500G of capacity installed thus far. The ring connects to routes north to Latvia and south into Poland.
