Thursday Roundup: Ripple, Brightspeed, BDx, EDGNEX

Two regional last mile projects and two data center infrastructure investments from southeast Asia:

Ripple Fiber has broken ground on a $104M expansion into Illinois. They will be investing in new infrastructure in Cook and DuPage Counties, which is another way of saying the Chicago metropolitan area. Construction is underway in Elk Grove Village with additional areas to be announced over time, and Ripple plans to open a local office and establish a strong local presence.

Brightspeed is entering the home stretch of its extension of last mile fiber to northwestern Ohio. Their infrastructure now passes 11,500 homes and businesses in the towns of Defiance and Napoleon out of a total of about 14,100 planned. That will bring high speed internet to more than half of the potential market in this underserved region.

BDx Indonesia is preparing for the next wave of growth in southeast Asia. They have signed a power purchase agreement with PLN, Indonesia’s national electric power distributor. The deal will supply 30MVA to BDx Indonesia’s upcoming CGK3A campus in Jakarta as well as the CGK4 AI campus in Jatiluhur.

Meanwhile, EDGNEX is also planning a major expansion in Indonesia. Backed by Dubai’s DAMAC Group, the data center infrastructure developer will be investing $2.1B into a 144MW AI-powered facility in Jakarta. This follows last year’s plans for a 19.2MW facility in the MT Haryono area of Jakarta which will go live in Q3 of 2026.
