Four last mile and metro news, three from the US and one from across the pond:
Light Source Communications has completed a new metro fiber project out in Kansas City, Missouri. With a hyperscaler as the anchor tenant, they constructed a 35-mile metro ring in the city. It is one of four dark fiber projects the company plans to complete this year, the others being in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tulsa.
Wyyerd Fiber’s rollout of new markets in Arizona continued this week with the start of construction in the town of Marana. Marana sits a bit northwest of Tucson, and is a key step toward the company’s expansion into the region as they eye Pima County, Sahuarita, and Oro Valley. Wyyerd has long been busy around Phoenix and also over in San Diego.
Brightspeed says it is almost done with a fiber buildout in ‘far western’ Ohio. They have added fiber to 8,000 homes and businesses in Van Wert and Delphos, following up on a similar announcement up in Defiance and Napoleon last week. At completion the project will reach 9,700 locations, representing more than half of each community.
And over in the UK, CityFibre has completed its primary buildout in Havant, Westbourne, and other surrounding areas. The project passes some 22K homes in the suburb of Portsmouth along England’s southern coast. They broke ground on the £17m project in 2022 and now have over 244km of fiber infrastructure in the area. From here they will be bringing those locations on-net and densifying the infrastructure overall.
