Wyyerd Buys Fiber from Ting and Conterra

There was also a more regional M&A in the fiber infrastructure world yesterday. Wyyerd has announced transactions to purchase a substantial amount of fiber across multiple Arizona markets from Ting Fiber and Conterra Networks.

The deal covers assets in the Tuscon metro area, including within Tucson itself, Marana, Oro Valley, and Pima County. It also reaches into Nogales and Rio Rico further to the south. Some dark fiber will be leased back to Conterra in support of multiple school districts they serve there.

Meanwhile Wyyerd will use the metro fiber assets to jump start its own FTTH efforts across more of Arizona. Their main efforts have been in the Phoenix region so far, but they now have a starting point in Tucson and in the south to go with it.

Conterra also recently sold its nearby New Mexico fiber assets to Ezee Fiber over the winter.  It’s main assets are in Texas, Louisiana, and the Carolinas.  But they do have some other isolated assets that could also be sold off if the company keeps rationalizing its focus, such as a dozen or so small markets in California.

Financial details of the transactions were not disclosed.
