Int’l Bytes: EdgeConneX, Oracle, Cologix, Telstra, Colt, Ciena

Two from South America, one from Asia, and one from North America:

EdgeConneX’s foray into Chile down in South America is going well enough to justify a new data center. The edge colocation provider has lined up Oracle Cloud as an anchor customer for SCL02, a new data center to be built on their campus in Santiago alongside SCL01. EdgeConneX is investing to meet surging demand in the region in markets beyond Brazil.

Cologix has itself a new international tenant up in Toronto, Canada. They have developed a new partnership with Telstra, which has deployed a new PoP at the company’s TOR1 interconnection hub. The hub is located within 151 Front Street, giving Telstra access to 150+ networks as well as TorIX via the facility’s Meet-Me-Room.

Colt keeps on finding more success over in Japan. This week they announced that the cloud solutions provider ITEC will be leveraging Colt’s Ethernet VPN to empower its AWS cloud connectivity services. ITEC anticipates expanding its portfolio by adding various additional public cloud options.

And Ciena’s 800G technology won over a new customer down in South America this week. Vogel Telecom has deployed the vendor’s Waveserver 5 interconnection platform and MCP software in Sao Paolo, Brazil. They’ll use the 800Gbps wavelengths to deliver 100GbE and 400GbE services efficiently. Vogel operates 26,000km of fiber touching 600 PoPs across Brazil.
