Aqua Comms’ AEC-2 Cable Is Now Live

This morning the transatlantic submarine cable community officially got a little bit bigger. Aqua Comms has announced the successful launch of AEC-2, the company’s second cable system and its part of the HAVFRUE project that’s been underway for a couple years now.

AEC-2 connects NJFX on the New Jersey shore with Denmark via the North Sea, a unique path that adds diversity to the ecosystem in the North Atlantic. It complements AEC-1, which runs between New Jersey and Ireland with connectivity on across the Irish Sea to London. AEC-1 came into service four years ago, which seems like a couple eternities in today’s world but is actually just, you know, four years.

By taking the northern route, AEC-2 can connect key US destinations with Frankfurt without touching Ireland or Britain. Once CeltixConnect-2 and North Sea Connect come online in the coming months, Aqua Comms will have a full set of cables it calls the North Atlantic Loop.
