As we say good bye to July, here's a quick look at some news you might have missed from this week:
In the northeastern US, FirstLight is adding some muscle to its top leadership team. They have brought in Doug Derstine as COO, promoted Maura Mahoney to the CMO role, and raised Todd Warmingham to the post of Chief Construction Officer. FirstLight has been busy this year, expanding its infrastructure into Pennsylvania and acquiring additional assets on multiple fronts, so all three have plenty of work to keep them busy right off the bat.
Stream Data Centers has officially opened a new facility out in the Midwest. The first phase of their new 15MW, 127,000 square foot data center in the Chicago metro area is now open for business. It is located in Elk Grove Village, about 9 miles from O'Hare and 22 miles from downtown.
Flexential is bringing its infrastructure to bear on COVID-19 down in the southeast. They are partnering with the Floyd Medical Center, a nonprofit health system with locations across Georgia and Alabama. Floyd is using Flexential's infrastructure and services to manage all the data necessary and enable new telemedicine capabilities as it built out additional beds and locations on the fly.
And Digital Realty has been getting deeper into the world of AI. They recently collaborated with NVIDIA and Core Scientific to deploy a data hub powered by NVIDIA's DGX A100 in the Interxion facility in the London Docklands. With that in place, they hope to supply AI platform-as-a-service solutions at scale to data science teams.
