Tuesday Bytes: InnerCity FiberNet, Veego, Amdocs, Fluvius, Teleste

A metro fiber recap, a new partner/investor, and an MSO network upgrade:

The international private equity firm Mexcap has found some more fiber to invest in. Mexcap has made an equity investment in InnerCity FiberNet (ICFN) down in Texas. ICFN operates a 350-route-mile fiber footprint across the Dallas-Ft. Worth metro area that hooks up some 57 key locations. They also have a few rings in place in Phoenix, Arizona. The recapitalization will provide ICFN with the resources to expand its presence further in both markets.

Israel-based Veego has a key new partner in its effort to push deeper into the ISP market worldwide: Amdocs. Veego’s SaaS solution uses uses AI to analyze and observe home networks for ISPs, providing key information that can improve the customer experience when something goes wrong. Amdocs has invested in the company and is integrating its technology into its own software suite in order to offer a combined solution.

And in Belgium, Fluvius is upgrading its optical network. They are deploying some 750 intelligent optical nodes from Teleste in the Flanders reagion under an expanded deal worth €1.1M. Fluvius is owned by a coalition of 14 municipal utilities, and operates a cable network that passes 500K homes, and this upgrade has been in process for a year now.  I haven’t run into either Fluvius or Teleste before, so I guess I’ll have to keep a closer eye on this sector of the infrastructure market.
