FirstLight Folds In Todd Cable Construction

FirstLight Fiber has found a new M&A to expand its capabilities in the Northeast, but this time it isn’t about buying more fiber reach or depth. FirstLight has announced the acquisition of Todd Cable Construction.

Todd Cable is an engineering and construction firm that builds and maintains fiber networks, with offices in Newport NY, Rochester NY, and Waterbury CT. They have been building fiber for FirstLight for years, and now FirstLight is bringing that talent and capability in-house.

Todd Cable will operate as a business unit within FirstLight, so not much will change on the ground. The move does suggest that FirstLight’s organic buildout plans are expanding. Of course they have always been building out organically, but for years the inorganic path has gotten all the press. Now that the company has rolled up most of what they can between Lake Erie and the shores of Maine, within those boundaries the expansion will naturally shift toward building out more and more depth.
