Tuesday Roundup: AMS-IX, TierPoint, Comcast

April 16th, 2019 by · 2 Comments

A few quick takes worth keeping an eye on:

AMS-IX is turning to Epsilon to expand its service portfolio in North America. Epsilon will be providing infrastructure outsourcing at AMS-IX’s Bay Area and Chicago IXs, specifically housing and external connectivity environments. It’s an expansion of an existing relationship between the two companies, which have already been working together in Europe and Asia.

TierPoint has launched hosted private cloud services this week. They have deployed Nutanix Enterprise Cloud in-house, and will be making the services available across 40 data centers in the USA. The service is customizable, capable of integrating various managed services, thus responding to growing demand for hybrid cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure.

And late last week Comcast Business revisited the scene of a fiber buildout in Chicago from three years ago. Five miles of new fiber into the city’s Back of the Yards and Bridgeport neighborhoods brought 10Gbps and in some cases 100Gbps connectivity to SMBs in the area as well as other service layered on top. That expansion has since helped spur economic growth and new jobs in that part of Chicago’s South Side.
