Horizon Acquires Its Way Into Indianapolis

April 23rd, 2019 by · 2 Comments

Some metro fiber is changing hands out in the Midwest. Ohio-based Horizon has acquired a fiber and conduit network in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.

The acquired fiber of 1,000 fiber miles already connects up some 20 multi-tenant buildings and data centers with 100 near-network business customers on tap. The new infrastructure complements Horizon’s 4500-route-mile regional and metro footprint centered on southern Ohio.

Horizon was bought last year by Novacap TMT in what appeared to be the first step toward building a Midwestern regional infrastructure player. Earlier this month the company launched new capabilities in Columbus, Ohio.

Indiana’s infrastructure space has been making more waves than usual in recent months. Digital Crossroads is finishing up its new data center up along Lake Michigan, Intelligent Fiber Networks recently brought an energy utility into its ownership group, and DataBank acquired LightBound.

Hmmm… In that last one, LightBound happened to have an Indiana metro fiber network as well as its two data centers, perhaps it is the same one?  If anyone knows for sure, please leave a comment.
