Some data center, interconnection, and network news, both foreign and domestic, to finish out the week:

QTS now has new interconnectivity options available at its Chicago data center. United Internet Exchange has expanded its Chicago IX platform into the company's 475,000 square foot facility. QTS Chicago went live a little less than three years ago within the former Chicago Sun-Times printing plant. Chicago IX was originally created to serve the financial trading community.

Equinix will be tuning its senior management team in early Q2, promoting three current exectives to new C-level roles. Karl Strohmeyer will become Chief Customer and Revenue Officer, Sara Baack will take on the Chief Product Officer role, and Eric Schwartz will be Chief Strategy and Development Officer. Each was already a key member of the team, but will now take on expanded roles in order to better meet the challenges ahead.

And last week the pan-African network provider CMC networks announced plans to partner with the Middle Eastern provider du on some new infrastructure. The two are creating a new route between du's datamena facility in the UAE and locations across 50 AFrican countries. The main point of interconnection for those African PoPs will be in Djibouti on the Red Sea, from which the two will have a high-speed, low latency route in place to Dubai.
