IXcellerate to Accelerate Its Russian Buildout

February 7th, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

IXcellerate is planning to put $260M to work over in Russia. Over the next five years they plan to move beyond their single Moscow One Datacentre in Moscow and either build or buy four more facilities.

The first step will be to spend some $30M to build out Moscow Two, which will add 1,485 racks backed by 12MW of power to the company’s portfolio. They’ll be in need of that space to continue to meet demand for local data center infrastructure for the Russian market from global cloud operators. Over the last year they’ve seen the Chinese provider Tencent Cloud take up some 600 racks in their existing footprint.

The overall plan calls for one campus of some 10,000 racks, and a total footprint of over 15,000 racks by 2023. The money for that expansion will come from a variety of potential sources: bank financing, shareholder contributions, and foreign capital.
