Element Critical Enters Chicago

January 8th, 2019 by · 1 Comment

A substantial chunk of data center space has changed hands outside of Chicago. Element Critical announced this morning the acquisition of two facilities in the Chicago Suburbs, adding 195,000 square feet of space to the company’s portfolio and entering a new market.

The two facilities are located at 341 Haynes Drive and 711 N. Edgewood Ave in Wood Dale, slightly west of O’Hare International Airport and 17 miles from downtown.

They currently have 111,000 feet of raised floor space fed by 15MW of available power capacity and connected to both the main Chicago hub at East Cermak and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Element Critical has earmarked $40M to further enhance the two facilities.

The purchase puts Element Critical in three regions now, adding a central US option to its Silicon Valley and Northern Virginia locations and doubling its facility count. The previous owner of the two facilities appears to be SunGard.
