Int’l Bytes: DE-CIX, NTT, Optus, Infinera

Four interesting items on four continents worth noting:

DE-CIX has passed a key milestone in its quest to dominate the New York City IX market.  This morning they announced that they now have more than 200 unique ASN networks connected and claimed the number # slot for that metric in the NYC metro area.  DE-CIX has now been in New York for a little over five years.

NTT Communications has added some more muscle to its DDoS protection  capabilities.  They have now added a new auto-mitigation solution that gives customers the option to not just automatically detect and identify potential attacks, but to configure an automatic response based on the threshold they set.

Optus Wholesale has picked up a significant customer in Australia.  The European mobile virtual network enabler Transatel has selected Optus’s mobile network for inbound data roaming, supporting the company’s IoT efforts.  Optus will be Transatel’s exclusive partner down under, helping connections from everything from laptops down to industria machinery.

And Infinera has lined up a new customer for its recently acquired Coriant business.  Brazil’s Tely is deploying Infinera’s Groove G30 network disaggregation platform to scale its network infrastructure, boosting its network capacity by a factor of 20, cutting the associated capex, and providing 100G and 200G interconnection capabilities.  Tely offers connectivity in Brazil’s northeast and of course Sao Paolo.
