DataBank Moves Into Indianapolis, Acquires LightBound

December 17th, 2018 by · 1 Comment

The Midwest has been pretty dynamic on the M&A front lately, and this morning there was another interesting infrastructure deal. DataBank has announced the acquisition of LightBound.

LightBound operates two data centers in the Indy Telecom Center in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. Between the two facilities they have some 73,000 square feet of space powered by 9.5MW of installed UPS power. Interestingly, LightBound also operates a fiber network in the Indianapolis metro and reaching out into neighboring markets. They also offer a mix of managed voice and cloud services, and target the region’s enterprise marketplace.

The deal brings DataBank’s footprint to 17 data centers in 9 US markets. The deal also seems to get the company into a bit of the fiber and voice business, and I wonder if they’ll keep those pieces or perhaps split them off.
