Tofane Global Closes Altice Deal, Expands Voice Carrier Reach

September 13th, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

Tofane Global’s quest to conquer the international carrier voice business is officially underway. This morning they officially closed the purchase of the relevant pieces of Altice Europe N.V., adding further scale in a business that hasn’t gotten much love in a while.

The deal sees three Altice entities move over to Tofane: SFR International Carrier Services in France, MEO International Carrier Services in Portugal, and Dominicana International Carrier Services in the Dominican Republic. The three handled 14 billion minutes of international voice traffic last year.

Still in the wings is the previously announced deal to acquire iBasis from KPN, which should close soon and will add some 20B voice minutes annually to that total. Tofane says that will put them in the #3 position in that market in terms of call volume.  The annual revenues acquired today stand at some €400, which after iBasis will be somewhere north of €1B.
