Here are a few quick takes on news from the start of this week:

Up in Michigan, 123Net says its network has passed a milestone. The regional network and colo provider now has over 600 commercial buildings on-net, a goal that they set a couple years ago. The company operates a statewide fiber network with extensive metro fiber in both the Detroit and Grand Rapids metro areas.  We had 123Net CEO Dan Irvin on here for an interview last summer.

GlobeNet has joined the ranks of network providers offering specialized, direct connectivity to the cloud. They have launched a new Cloud Connect Service that offers private connectivity to the cloud infrastructure enterprises need, leveraging the company’s network assets between North and South America. The list of clouds on board initially include Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud of course, but also LinkedIn, Zendesk, Salesforce, Oracle, Zoom Video Communications and Cisco WEBEX.

And Infomart Data Centers has completed the first stage of its expansion project down in northern Virginia. They have brought a new data center suite online in Ashburn, the first of six such suites featuring 10,000 square foot and power. Infomart is in the process of getting new owners, with IPI Partners taking over for ASB Real Estate after the company sold its Dallas hub to Equinix.
