Monday Roundup: McAllen, Orange, Sparkle, Cisco

February 5th, 2018 by · 1 Comment

Here’s a few other tidbits from late last week that are worth noting:

Orange Business Services has made a move to increase its penetration of the healthcare vertical. They have bought the French software publisher Enovacom, which specializes in sharing of healthcare data between hospitals and other players in the ecosystem. If all goes well, Enovacom will become a subsidiary of the company, operationally attached to Orange Healthcare.

McAllen Data Center has expanded westward along the Rio Grande with an acquisition. They have bought a 10,000 square foot data center at 11455 Cedar Oak drive in El Paso from Verizon. The deal gives MDC another interconnection node on the US/Mexico border, adding to its presence in Laredo and of course McAllen.

Sparkle has announced a strategic partnership with the peering provider France-IX. The arrangement will see Sparkle’s Seabone IP backbone made available to the members of France-IX in both Paris and Marseille. Meanwhile, Sparkle customers will have access to France-IX from around the world via ann enriched VNAP solution.

And Cisco has closed its purchase of Broadsoft. The deal puts one of the industry’s most pervasive cloud communications platforms in the hands of the industry giant. Cisco will be combining that platform with its existing portfolio and taking it to market via both service providers and VARs. Broadsoft’s stock will be de-listed from the NASDAQ next monday.

Is Sparkle actually announcing their routes on the IX or just selling transport to\from the IX?

I wish more operators would announce their routes on IXes, even if it’s just the routes for their local metro.
