CyrusOne said this morning that it has broken ground on a new data center out in the Chicago metro area. The new facility will span some 425,000 square feet on the company’s campus in Aurora, Illinois.
CyrusOne entered Aurora back in March of 2016 by purchasing the data center owned by CME Group there (pictured left). They then followed up with a 23 acre purchase of adjacent land a few months ago. The new data center will be on the combined property, complementing the existing facility in which CME still maintains a significant presence for its Globex platform. Once complete, the new data center will become part of CyrusOne’s National IX platform, offering interconnection to the companies clients in other data centers around the country.
