BroadSoft Acquires Its Way Into Japan’s UC Market

November 13th, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

The VoIP world saw a bit of inorganic action this morning across the Pacific.  BroadSoft is acquiring PBXL, a provider of cloud communications to the Japanese business market.

PBXL is a licensee of BroadSoft’s platform since 2012, so we aren’t talking about a difficult integration here.  BroadSoft plans to use the acquisition to bring its BroadCloud hosted UC platform into Japan, where it feels that the SMB market is underserved by alternatives.   They’ll therefore be starting with local knowledge, infrastructure, and customer relationships.

BroadSoft expects the acquisition to contribute $1.5M in revenue next year and be $0.02 dilutive to non-GAAP earnings per share.  Transaction costs will eat into 2015 earnings by another $0.02 per share.
