Friday Poll: Unexpected Side Effects?

March 20th, 2015 by · 2 Comments

Now that the FCC has applied Title II to the internet in order to enforce network neutrality and the dust has had a week or so to settle, it’s time for a Friday poll.  Not about network neutrality directly though, I’m curious about whether readers think using Title II to get it done is going to have other negative impacts beyond the intended regulatory scope of the current FCC chairman and his allies.

Weird question. Virtually every decision has unexpected side effects. The bigger the decision, the bigger the side effects.

The same question could have been posed and would have been equally relevant if the FCC did nothing.

Perhaps more importantly, your poll question implies doing nothing is NOT a decision. Deciding not to act is as much a decision as deciding to act. Instead, you’ve decided not to act.
