Here’s a quick rundown of news from around the industry today:
CyrusOne says it has brought its home-grown internet exchange out of the south and southwest with new nodes in two key markets. Their customers at 350 East Cermak in Chicago and at their new data center in northern virginia now have access to the exchange, joining the core DASH cities of Texas plus Phoenix.
Over in the UK, VIRTUS Data Centres has brought in some new bandwidth to its London2 facility in Hayes. Teliasonera International Carrier has expanded its IP backbone into the facility. TSIC has been expanding on multiple fronts around the world over the past few years, adding PoPs and even dark fiber routes in the US.
Earthlink posted its Q4 numbers yesterday after the market closed. Revenues of $284.3M were about where the markets expected, while the adjusted loss per share was slightly below expectations. In general, Earthlink does seem to be stabilizing a bit after finding the transition from CLEC to cloud to be even harder than anticipated. Where they choose to go from here is still an open question. Update: Looks like the first step may indeed be the sale of their fiber, and lower revenue guidance suggests the exiting of various products.
And Ericsson issued a flood of announcements over at MWC in Barcelona today. From new hardware to software upgrades, analytics, optimization, integration, and media delivery, they offered a pretty comprehensive view of their vision for the next generation of wireless networks.

off topic but with so many providers listed here, thought it was a great place to post a question. I believe most cable (home internet access) providers uses something called TR-069 which is a CPE WAN Management Protocol. The thing is, it’s extremely powerful and appears to be accessible. You own this device, you own all of the provider’s customer.
