Integra Continues Arizona Expansion at Phoenix NAP

July 7th, 2011 by · 1 Comment

Western regional operator Integra Telecom announced another new PoP yesterday in Arizona, bringing Phoenix NAP on-net.  While most of their revenues come from the CLEC side of things, Integra has been emphasizing its fiber footprint more and more, bringing key sites on-net across the region.  Continuing in that vein, Integra will use its new PoP in Phoenix NAP to focus on high speed Internet, MPLS VPN, and private line products.

But Phoenix seems to be a key focus of the company’s attention, as they are clearly looking to build scale and take advantage of their metro footprint in the city.  Last fall they moved into the giant i/o Phoenix facility as well.  They also did some minor M&A in the area, buying the local exchange customers of Sharenet.  Integra has frequently been the subject of ‘who will get bought’ rumors in the telecom space, as it brings a fairly unique footprint to the table as well as a substantial amount of revenue.  However, all their actual moves of late have been organic.

With Integra business model of small-medium business VOIP, PBX, converged small data /voice circuits who would may be interested in them. Although they do seem to be changing or expanding there business model into larger Metro Ethernet fiber based services I would think there revenue % of would be skewed towards small business and not match a Zayo/Level 3/ type business model. 660 million revenue and unknown ebitda would make them a very costly purchase.
